    Call to Artists for Tenth Annual Images of the Shrub-Steppe  Cowiche Canyon Conservancy (CCC) and Boxx Gallery are excited to announce that the tenth annual Images of the Shrub-Steppe exhibit is accepting artist submissions. This show features visual art inspired by the lands and life of shrub-steppe, our local ecosystem in the Yakima Valley. Images of the Shrub-Steppe is a collaboration between CCC and Boxx Gallery in Tieton, WA.

    About Shrub-Steppe Shrub-steppe is a unique and biodiverse ecosystem. Historically, shrub-steppe dominated much of the lands of the intermountain west. Here in the Columbia Basin and Central Washington, we have acutely felt the disappearance of this ecosystem, as only about 20 to 30 percent remains, only a fraction of which is high quality habitat. 

    The Exhibit The Exhibit will run from September 5 – 27, 2026, at Boxx Gallery in Tieton, WA. Awards: Juror’s Award $100, People’s Choice Award $100, CCC Award $100.

    Artists in all media are encouraged to submit artwork completed within the last five years and inspired by the shrub-steppe lands of the Yakima Valley. For a $35 non-refundable entry fee, you may submit up to 3 pieces of artwork for consideration. The deadline to submit is July 31, 2026.

    Event Details

    Boxx Gallery The Boxx is a non-profit art gallery dedicated to the creation, exhibition and access to visual arts and art education. Known as “The Little Gallery with the Big Heart”, Boxx Gallery continues to support the Highland Foodbank. Boxx Gallery’s address is 616 Maple St, Tieton, WA 98947.  

    Cowiche Canyon Conservancy Cowiche Canyon Conservancy is a local non-profit organization conserving shrub-steppe habitat and connecting people to the land through recreation and education programs. CCC owns and manages over 7,288 acres of land and offers 50 miles of trails for non-motorized recreation.
